Kane is a star!

 

Superstar student of the week is Kane! Kane gets our assembly award this week for a huge effort to improve all his school work and his concentration at school. Kane has also been beautifully behaved. Well done Kane we are so proud of you.

Spectacular Spellers

Rhythm Interactive

 
 












Today NEVNS was lucky enough to attend an amazing interactive drumming performance at the Opoho Church with the fabulous Julian and Anton. We were amazed to find out when we got there that all the children were going to be part of the performance, they all had a drum to play. Anton led the children by demonstrating patterns on his drum for them to follow. It was so much fun, but very noisy. By the end of the show we all had sore, pink hands.

Shay is a superstar

 











Our assembly award on Friday went to Shay. Shay has been making a huge effort to concentrate on his work and to give his best effort in everything he does. Well done Shay, you are well on your way to achieving your goals.

Caterpillars

Well ten days ago our caterpillars made their cocoons. We read a book about monarch butterflies that says it takes about ten days for them to change into butterflies. I wonder if we will find a surprise when we get back to school after the long weekend?

We're Moving!

Did you know that Room 2 is moving?
Next term the building work on the upgrade to our senior school starts, that means we all have to move out!
Next term Room 2 will be in Room 13, behind Mrs Will's class (the PMP room) while our block has its make over.
We will be in Room 13 for the whole term then we are really lucky to be moving back into our new and improved classroom! We are really excited to see how it will change.

I have added a homework page connected to our blog that has the topic task for the week, should the homework sheet not be getting home you will be able to get the information from here. I am planning on adding other pages during the year with helpful information, any suggestions as to what you would like to see on here will be gratefully accepted!

Caterpillars

 

Room 2 have two new additions to our fantastic classroom, they are two rather fat monarch caterpillars. At the moment they are munching their way through our swan plant, I wonder what they will do next?

Superstar

 

Congratulations! This weeks star student is Olivia, for making such a wonderful job of her collage self portrait. Olivia really thought hard about all the different shades in her hair and about creating the curls. Tino pai to mahi Olivia.

Froglet and Showoff

Finally I have some photos of our frogs to show you. They are so good at hiding that I had to wait until it was very quiet to sneak up on Froglet and Showoff to take their pictures. Froglet is the little frog and Showoff is the big frog, please come in and visit them in our class. We wonder if anyone can help us find out what kind of frog they are?

Jordan brought in some tadpoles for our class because we are learning about water. We started to see bumps coming from the back of the tadpoles and they grew backlegs and then bumps at the front and they grew front legs. They started to turn into a rounder shape. They started losing their tails because they use it for food to turn into a frog. They started jumping and climbing and they didn't need to be in the water all the time. Froglet was our first frog and then Show off. We called one of our frogs Show off because he is a show off and climbs and jumps around the tank. Froglet is a really fast swimmer. We changed the tank to make it a better home for frogs but they keep getting really dirty from playing in the dirt. We still have one tadpole in a separate container, he only has his back legs and his name is One eye because he just has one eye! The frogs are very good at camouflaging so they are very hard to see and get a photo for our blog! They are changing colour to suit where they want to hide. While we are writing this post Show off is staring at us from his pond, he is getting very cheeky!
